From Saigon to Saint Agnes: Samuel Le’s Journey of Faith
Samuel Le was born and raised in Saigon, Vietnam. He was raised Catholic which is rare in his home city. His parents are English professors. Being their only child, they sent him to America with great expectations that he would become a medical doctor. Samuel joined Catholic Campus Ministries when he arrived at UAFS and was introduced to Father Louis Tuyen Do and a group of seminarians. Samuel was less homesick when Fr Tuyen Do invited him to join the Vietnamese Catholic community in Northwest Arkansas and he also taught Samuel how to drive a car. Samuel was encouraged to participate in a Jesuit retreat. It was at this retreat that Samuel felt the strong calling to become a priest. What surprising news for his parents! Samuel heard of the desperate need for priests and wants to serve at a parish where one of his duties will be teaching faith formation. Samuel says during his free time he likes to play video games, go hiking, and read. He is thrilled to be visiting St Agnes and is eager to make new friends. He misses the food of his homeland but would enjoy going to get an ice cream cone any time!
